Mobile Mixed Messages

In the sometimes mixed up world of Harrisburg, messages get garbled.  September could have not provided us with a clearer example.  Over the Labor Day holiday weekend, PennDOT launched one of the state’s first mobile applications. Its 511PA system lets travelers dial 511 any time of the day or night for traffic delays, weather forecasts, regional tourism information, and links to transit agencies and major airports.  They also make the information available at www.511PA.com.

For those of us that keep our Blackberries and iPhones at our side at all times, it was hard not to resist waving them in the air and cheering on a government service that actually encourages our tech dependencies.  Who could resist dialing 511? Read the rest of this entry »
